We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Drayage Manager to join our team and drive excellence in our drayage operations.
Position Overview:
The Drayage Manager will be responsible for overseeing all drayage operations, ensuring efficient and timely movement of freight between ports and distribution centers. This role requires a strong understanding of logistics, transportation, and regulatory compliance. The Drayage Manager will lead a team of professionals, manage vendor relationships, and work closely with other departments to optimize operations and achieve company goals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operational Management: Oversee and manage all drayage operations, ensuring timely pickup and delivery of freight to and from ports.
- Vendor and Carrier Management: Establish and maintain relationships with drayage service providers and carriers, negotiating contracts and rates to ensure competitive pricing and service quality.
- Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and develop a team of logistics coordinators and drivers, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
- Compliance and Safety: Ensure all operations comply with local, state, and federal regulations, including safety standards and environmental requirements.
- Performance Monitoring: Track and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) related to drayage operations, identifying areas for improvement and implementing solutions.
- Cost Management: Manage and optimize drayage costs while maintaining high service levels and operational efficiency.
- Customer Service: Collaborate with the customer service team to address client inquiries and resolve issues promptly, ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction.
- Strategic Planning: Develop and implement strategies to enhance drayage operations, improve efficiency, and support the company’s growth objectives.
- Technology Utilization: Leverage logistics management systems and software to improve tracking, reporting, and operational efficiency.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in drayage, transportation, or logistics management.
- Strong knowledge of port operations, drayage regulations, and industry best practices.
- Excellent leadership and team management skills.
- Proven ability to build and maintain strong vendor and client relationships.
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in logistics management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
