Position Overview:

The Drayage Manager will be responsible for overseeing all drayage operations, ensuring efficient and timely movement of freight between ports and distribution centers. This role requires a strong understanding of logistics, transportation, and regulatory compliance. The Drayage Manager will lead a team of professionals, manage vendor relationships, and work closely with other departments to optimize operations and achieve company goals.

Key Responsibilities:

• Operational Management: Oversee and manage all drayage operations, ensuring timely pickup and delivery of freight to and from ports.
• Vendor and Carrier Management: Establish and maintain relationships with drayage service providers and carriers, negotiating contracts and rates to ensure competitive pricing and service quality.
• Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and develop a team of logistics coordinators and drivers, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
• Compliance and Safety: Ensure all operations comply with local, state, and federal regulations, including safety standards and environmental requirements.
• Performance Monitoring: Track and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) related to drayage operations, identifying areas for improvement and implementing solutions.
• Cost Management: Manage and optimize drayage costs while maintaining high service levels and operational efficiency.
• Customer Service: Collaborate with the customer service team to address client inquiries and resolve issues promptly, ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction.
• Strategic Planning: Develop and implement strategies to enhance drayage operations, improve efficiency, and support the company’s growth objectives.
• Technology Utilization: Leverage logistics management systems and software to improve tracking, reporting, and operational efficiency.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
• Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in drayage, transportation, or logistics management.
• Strong knowledge of port operations, drayage regulations, and industry best practices.
• Excellent leadership and team management skills.
• Proven ability to build and maintain strong vendor and client relationships.
• Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency in logistics management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
